Indore Western Bypass Project Commences A Leap Towards Modern Infrastructure
Indore is on the cusp of an infrastructural transformation with the commencement of the Western Bypass project, a development poised to redefine urban mobility and city boundaries. Spearheaded by MKC Infrastructure, an esteemed company based in Ahmedabad, this ambitious project, valued at Rs 1938 crore, is set to unfold in two strategic phases, enhancing connectivity from AB Road near Mhow to Shipra via Saver.
Spanning a total length of 64 kilometers, the bypass aims to facilitate seamless travel across the western part of Indore, carving out a new urban edge while connecting key locales including Betma and Hatod. The project's first phase covers a 34-kilometer stretch from Mhow to Hatod, tendered at a competitive Rs 996 crore, reflecting a 5% saving on the initial estimate. The subsequent phase, extending 30 kilometers from Hatod to Shipra, further underscores the project's fiscal prudence, with a tender accepted at Rs 884 crore, 6% below the projected cost.
A noteworthy feature of this infrastructural marvel is the introduction of GPS-based toll collection, a modern approach ensuring efficiency and convenience for commuters. With plans to establish six pivotal entry and exit points, including cloverleaf and dumbbell junctions at critical intersections, the Western Bypass is designed to operate akin to a partial expressway, supporting speeds up to 100 km per hour.
The entire road will be built like a partial expressway.
1. Cloverleaf Junction on Indore-Mumbai Highway
2. Cloverleaf Junction near Pithampur
3. Dumbbell Junction near Betma
4. Dumbbell Junction on Hatod
5. Dumbell Junction on Sanver Road
6. Dumbbell Junction on Indore-Ujjain Highway
7. Cloverleaf Junction near Shipra.
The project also entails a significant land acquisition phase, with 638 hectares earmarked for development and a compensation fund of Rs 1000 crore set aside, highlighting the scale and impact of this initiative on the city's landscape.
Endorsed by experts as a crucial addition to Indore's urban fabric, the Western Bypass not only promises to alleviate traffic congestion but also to usher in a new era of growth and connectivity. With strategic planning and meticulous execution, this project is set to become a cornerstone of Indore's development, driving progress and prosperity for the city and its residents.
